Abstract:
We give a formula for the total path length of muons traversing a volume V of arbitrary shape in terms of the rate dR_H/d Omega, whose units are number/cm^2/s, of muons incident on a horizontal surface at the location of the volume under consideration. As a corollary, we relate the flux of muons across a vertical surface to that across a horizontal surface.
