Abstract:
Data on electron diffusion in liquid argon are sparse. ICARUS uses the "Einstein" value of D = k T / e mu = 4 cm^2/s, for T = 87K and mu ~ 500 cm^2/s-V = WEAK FIELD mobility. The microBooNE proposal uses D ~ 15 cm^2/s, quoted by Doke, based on Shibamura et al. My interpretation of Derenzo et al. is that they observed D = 13 cm^2/s. Note that the measurements are for TRANSVERSE diffusion, while the theory is more relevant for LONGITUDINAL diffusion.
